Sukau
Situated on the Kinabatangan, Malaysia's "Gift to Earth" Sukau is one of the most biodiversity-rich regions in the world; spot the rare and endangered orangutan, the strange but wonderful, proboscis monkey, as well as eight other different primates. Sukau is a haven for bird watchers with over 210 species of bird including the kingfisher, storm stork and all eight species of the distinct hornbill. Explore the jungle, through morning treks around the magnificent oxbow lakes, and wildlife spot on the river through morning, afternoon and night cruises. The Kinabatangan is invariably one of the highlights for any naturalists stay in Borneo.

Poring Hot Springs
Part of Kinabalu National Park, Poring Hot Springs was constructed by the Japanese during World War II, set in the vast and beautiful rainforest of Kinabalu Park, the hot springs are one of the best ways to relax and unwind tired muscles after a hike up the mountain, or a jungle trek. Around Poring there are a number of other activities to explore, including the butterfly farm, the orchid conservation centre, a tropical garden, the Kipungit waterfall as well as strolling along the canopy walkway.

Danum Valley
81 km west of Lahad Datu, the famous Danum valley conservation area is the largest protected dipterocarp forest in Sabah. Owned by the Sabah foundation, Danum valley covers an untouched area of 438 kilometers. Danum Valley is one of the most biodiversed regions in Sabah with over 250 species of bird and 110 mammals, including the rare Sumatran Rhino, Clouded Leopard and endangered Orang Utan. Other animals that can be spotted include Gibbons, wild pig, deer and the delightful Pygmy Elephant. Explore the beauty of the wild through jungle treks, night drives and the canopy walk, suspended 25m above the ground.

Tenom
The scenic town of Tenom is situated deep in a misty valley in the interior of Sabah. Come and experience the warm and friendly Murut people on the final stop of the North Borneo Railway. Take in the breathtaking views of Crocker range, sample Tenom's famous coffee and immerse yourself in the history of the Murut led revolt of the British in 1915. Sabah Agriculture Park, Tenom Orchid Centre and the Murut Cultural Centre are located close by.

Tabin Wildlife Reserve
Located 48 Km from Lahad Datu, this vast area of dipterocarp forest is an ideal location to witness the beauty of natural Borneo. Covering an area of 122,539 ha, this wildlife reserve is inhabited by the rare Sumatran rhino, the charming pygmy elephant and the native Tembadau. There is also an array of bird species, cats and primates - an ideal stop for any nature lover, bird-watcher or photographer.

Kinabalu Park
Enveloped by Mount Kinabalu, Kinabalu Park is an area that captures the mystic of Borneo. Marked as an UNESCO World Heritage site for its 'outstanding universal natural values' Mount Kinabalu is one of the most biodiversity rich regions in the world, inhabited by a wide array of bird species and plant species such as orchids, pitcher plants, to rainforest, creepers and ferns. Explore this botanical paradise through the numerous trails and lookouts, and capture the real beauty of the land below the wind.

Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre
One of the four Orang Utan rehabilitation centres in the world, Sepilok is a must see for any fan of the great ape. The sanctuary is situated in the lush and dense vegetation of the 40 sq Km Kabili-Sepilok rainforest reserve. The "man of the jungle" can be witnessed at the feeding platform twice a day. Witness each Orang Utans playful personality, marvel at their gymnastic skills and take delight in their affection and interaction with one another. Take a walk through several walking trails; see a variety of wildlife and learn more about this majestic yet endangered creature at the nature education centre.

Manukan Island
One of the five islands that make up Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, Manukan is situated just off the coast of KK. Relax on the white sandy beach, go tropical snorkeling in the crystal clear water surrounded by coral reefs and take in the beauty of the island by exploring the dense vegetation through a number of walking trails.
